You had to be shaken or you would not have moved.

The blows in life may be arms trying to lift you. Your resistance makes the bruises. Try love instead. Love what comes to you. Dig beneath it, and see what you come up with. You may be being forced to go in another direction where a great treasure lies. If you had not been turned around, you might have missed it.

Amazing, isn't it? My resistance makes the bruises. And whose are the arms?

When you feel dismayed, perhaps that is the same as turning away from opportunity. Life is not to be refused.

Nothing has ever been done to me. It's a big relief to hear that and hear it spoken in a way that makes sense (instead of the cheap and unconvincing appeasement I was offered elsewhere). But who is life?

If you feel devastated, you have gone away from the vastness that is yours. It is yours right now. You are the vastness. You are not something else.

Now, seriously, who is doing the shaking and the forcing?

Devastation, it seems, is what I feel when I forget, and therefore don't want, to be what I am. It remains a mystery that I can forget who I am and still be it! No wonder I find it difficult to grasp that I'm not different from God.
