Fried green tomatoes
WOW!!!! What a pithy HEAVENLETTER!
I'm a writer, composer, artist, teacher, and many things.
I meant to say: "I AM" is all those things. After my 84th birthday I'm gonna really practice.
Today for lunch I said "I'll fix those green tomatoes a friend gave me at church Sunday.
I'm from the North and never did such a thing before but I sliced them, put them in a frying pan with lots of butter.
I mean, how hard can it be to fry green tomatoes? When they had just started frying, another friend called so I asked;
"How long do you fry green tomatoes?" She said "You just dip them in flower, then dust them with corn meal, salt them and you can tell when they get brown." I madly searched my shelves, and found no flower or corn meal but I did find oatmeal. The instant kind. I took the hot lid off my green tomatoes, covered them with oatmeal, cooked them till they were brown, turned them over covered them with more oatmeal and cooked them till brown. By then I was hungry. Oh, I forgot to tell you, I never learned to cook anything until I was 83 but they didn't smell bad and how different can corn meal be from oatmeal?.
God's such a Kick. He didn't blink when I dished up the stuff. I think I just composed a new thing. It turned out delicious (to me) and I ended up scrapping the bowl for more. It actually had a cinnamon flavor. You see, as this darling letter tells us: "You are a Being who expresses. What have you long not expressed?" In conclusion, I'm gonna buy some flour and corn meal.
George struggling to live, but happy
