Gloria to God:
Dear God, it seems extra sweet when you talk about Christ.
Such a sweet vibration. Such a clear connection. That same exists within you. When it is strummed, you like it.
The other day you spoke about enlightenment.
A friend of mine interpreted what You said quite differently from me. I took You to say that any one thing does not guarantee enlightenment. He took it, I thought, that doing anything isn't worthwhile, or is even possibly a waste of time.
I saw that you were saying not to depend on books or theories outside so much. I didn't hear You say that we shouldn't meditate, for example. Meditation led me to You, pointed me in the right direction, got me out of the outward. I am so grateful to it. And A Course in Miracles. I can't believe you meant to discount them.
What you pick up from your friend is his axe to grind. He has a degree of resentment where you have gratitude.
I was saying: Don't look for flashes of experience. Don't consider auras, for example, as a notch in your belt. Attention on auras is better put on Me. Don't look for the glitter. Don't trade Me in for a signpost.
When you depend on a popular manual for enlightenment, there is always another book along the way.
The books are on the sidelines, not the race itself.
Whatever stimulates you to know Me, that is good, but it is not a substitute for Me.
You just don't want to be a spiritual hopper.
Now, I want to say one thing.
Negativity is opposed to Me.
When you hear someone panning something, they are not at the moment connecting to Me.
I do not pan books. What I suggest is that you don't get caught up in vocabulary.
We can compare what I am saying now to how Mother Divine answered Lila's question about caring for the planet.
Assault on litterers is not the answer. Condemnation of anything is not the answer.
I do not consider A Course in Miracles as an another book.
No. It is Christ-given.
In a way, are all books God-given?
But maybe fifth-hand.
When you read a romance novel, you do not take it as the gospel.
Direct communication with Me gets you back to yourself. You and I. Simple. The two of us. The ultimate Truth.
Your meditation and A Course in Miracles brought shifts in you, just what Karen was talking about the other day.
Let Me say this another way.
The movie Jesus Christ Superstar had a great effect on you. It was transforming to you. Do you agree?
Absolutely. I watched it 125 times. It was more than a movie to me.
It did not affect everyone that way, as you know.
You can say the movie had a great effect on you, and you recommend it, but you cannot say: "Watch this movie every night for about four months, and you will become enlightened. And then watch Godspell for about thirty times in a row, and you will be taken to new heights."
It did it for you. And that's all you can say.
And after a while they returned to being just movies for me too. The special glow left, although I do still like to watch them once in a while.
They served their purpose for you. Or We can say, they served My purpose for you.
I have thought my coming across them was some kind of divine intervention.
Those movies brought back memories to you of the time you walked with Christ.
They were like a code for you.
They were like a post-hypnotic suggestion for you. "When you see Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell, you will remember."
The process of coming to Me is remembering. That's what it is. It is nothing new. It is a time recalled. It is a sweet melody familiar to you from you know not where.
What do you think human life is but a trance? For a moment, you forget who you are and become a tradesman. As you ply your trade, there are echoes of Me that you pick up in wonder, a remembrance of another life, a sweeter time, when you were clear and not confused, when you knew there was you and I, and that was the whole of it.
All longing is longing for Me.
Your voyage on earth is finding your way back to Me.
You are tracking Me down.
And you will find Me, for I am right here with you.
It is guaranteed that you will find Me. Only the how is not guaranteed.
