prī [indo-germ.] - > [german] 'lieben, frei sein' [to love, to be free]
prīt [indo-germ.] - > [german] 'hegen, schonen, pflegen' [to foster, to tend (deers, plants), to act out conservation (of a part of a forest; for domestic animals), to pen grazers]
pritus [indo-germ.] - > [german] 'Einfriedigung, Schutz, Sicherheit, Friede' [meaning: protection, safety, establishing of enclosures and pasture fences, something which is shielded and secured (at first, not as a property)]

Let me say some words to 'pritus - Friede' ....

These words derive from the times of the economies of pasture, partly nomadic.

Domestic herds need pasture fences. The herds have to be protected. If their protection is de-prived (violà! - have a look to 'pritus') and bereft, if it is destroyed and attacked by external human enemies, the animals are not "free" (as many modern contemporaries would say, I suppose) - rather, they are under un-peace. Their accord to the human community is lost. They become [german] 'unbefriedet'. They are jeopardizing themselves, other animals and humans.

'Friede' (engl. peace) ... If I am taken care of, if my pastures are secured, if my well-being is orderly prepared, if my fences are solely for my well-being, if I am free, active and eager to extend or to deconstruct or to transport my delineations, if I am tended, not whipped, if I am incited to give (let us say, I am an animal) my attention to humans, if I feel loved and nurtured and noticed ... then, I have freedom.

In the absence of being loved is no freedom.

Freedom is being loved.

While we're on it ...

'freedom' / 'freiheit' comes from [german] 'freihals' = [literally explained in engl.] ... no burden around the neck.
In this - not early connotation of 'free - frei' ! - 'freiheit' is derived from slavery and feudally subjected conditions. Privations had already taken place. The original meaning of 'pritus' [indo-german] = shield and tended protection) had already been distorted and perverted.

Love is not under privacy. Then it is something else. Gravely to recognize.
