palaverde!

hi jochen,

palaver and yakkity yak... kind of the same i guess, but yakking is less beguiling and more idle chatter.

perhaps what matters is the context in which understanding occurs. it seems (to me) the intellect likes to distinguish, that's what it's good at, it's the nature of our monkey minds! but, for me the question is, is that understanding nestled within a field of oneness or held in a context of separateness? the consciousness within which the intellect performs its function and informs us of certain aspects of the world, that consciousness exists independently and underlies any intellectual understanding.

so, kind of like goedel's theorems where (extremely loosely stated) you can't show completeness and/or consistency from within the system, i.e., you have to step outside the system, the intellect can never inform us of the nature of consciousness. consciousness itself has its own validity in whatever form we experience it, oneness or duality. hence theoretical understanding is, perhaps, necessary, but not sufficient. the nice part is, as gloria and god so wonderfully pointed out, "You have not lost yourself. You have found yourself." and "The time will come when you do not know whether your thoughts are yours or Mine." It's like, not losing a daughter, but gaining a sun. heh heh.

if we accept the possibility that there is only one oneness (for how can there not be?) then the oneness must include our frolicing monkey minds, and the activity of self-inquiry, as well, which really makes 'reality' transparent for me. to play with that old vedic style quote: curving back on the (S)(s)elf, (I)(i) create again and again." one can obtain really nice contextual, transcendental flavors of the cosmic Self interacting with the local self, assigning and experiencing the different morphing roles within consciousness. as god's local representatives here and now, feeling the continuity of c'ness underlying the morphing, the taxonomies, the systems and the structures, that is indeed very relaxing.

feels like home.
