This is wonderful! I have

This is wonderful! I have only about 100 questions for you! (Not really!) But a lot!

Thank you so much for offering this to us. Is there anyone who never runs into computer difficulties? Do you yourself ever run into any?

I would like to suggest that people pose their questions here on the forum. That way we know it's our question too or we know the answer and can throw in our two cents' worth too if we want to.

I think an interactive forum is a great thing, beloved Sascha.

You already know some of my questions. When I press Reply on some emails, Microsoft Outlook takes away my Word Editor. It unchecks what I have checked, and it offers me no choice. I believe you have indicated to me that this can be fixed. Can I be the only one who has this difficulty. I really am tired of this!

Another thing I thought of recently is that whenever a program isn't working, I am delayed while Microsoft asks me if I want to send them an error report. I don't want to. I might not mind sending them an error message if it didn't cause such a delay.

Also, when I shut down -- and I do this now every night -- it takes forever. I am waiting and waiting. I wish I could just shut down and not have to hang around and keep telling them I want to close. And then they say threatening things like I will lose everything if I shut down now. Well, what am I supposed to do when, for example, a program won't let me save and close?

Of course, these are little difficulties, and that's what makes them so annoying!

God bless you for offering this opportunity to us, Sascha, our own computer support angel.

Dearest Sascha, many thanks

Dearest Sascha,

many thanks for you help ! It feels really wonderful to have computer Angel looking after us.
Right now I have quite a good relationship with my computer, but we have ups and downs, well.. we'll see.

Thanks again dear !!

Much love

Glor,First - install Linux.

Glor,

First - install Linux. Trow windows through the window. Listen im crash. Enyou it .

btw =>> this may interest you: http://www.download.com/Wubi/3000-2094_4-10701841.html?tag=mncol&cdlPid=...

Second - the problems that you and many people have are mostly and mainly the trash that collect itself during the passage of Time in your (computer) operating system. So it is wise to install the the anti-spam programs like:

http://www.hitmanpro.nl/hitmanpro/index.php?lang=en

And run them - at least - 1X per week.

Also weekly periodical cleaning (and compacting) of your registry also helps:

http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/download/

http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Registry-Tweak/Free-Registry-Cleaner....

Periodical weekly defagmentation of your disks also helps.

right-klick on desktop=>choose tools=>choose defragmentation.

Also do not save large amout of files of large files on your desktop. It will slow down the restart of your computer. Move the data elsewere on the disk and then make shortcuts to them en cut-paste them on the desktop.

Did I alredy said - Instal Linux

Serp

You must somehow see

You must somehow see everything I do that create problems for me!

I'm sure I have too much on my computer. And I keep adding more. Microsoft or somebody keep sending me new virtual memory.

I will try some of the cleaning programs you suggest. I THINK I can do it. But I should only do one, yes?

What does Wubi do? Well, okay, I went and looked. It sounds good really, yet to think of my doing it is terrifying. What is Ubutu?

Downloading is an act of daring for me that sometimes brings its own complications.

Defrag I know how to do. I used to scandisk but don't find it now.

I have heard wonderful things about Linux. It would not be an easy thing for me to learn a new program just like that. Despite all the fault I find with Microsoft, I am fairly used to it.

There must be a huge learning curve to learn a new program. I do not presently know how to take the time to learn something new of this proportion.

You are so advanced, dear Serp. To you, all this is simple. To me, it's like I've been put into an advanced class and I'm kinda left behind and am afraid I'll never catch up.

Just one more thing. The advice you give here -- is this good advice for everyone?

Darling, see my answers below

Darling, see my answers below please ...

You must somehow see everything I do that create problems for me!

----They teach that in Serap's school darling...

I'm sure I have too much on my computer. And I keep adding more. Microsoft or somebody keep sending me new virtual memory.

----That is just standard Micorsoft warning that you are running too many programs at the same time and that your comp can not deal with it. It should improve after cleaning.

I will try some of the cleaning programs you suggest. I THINK I can do it. But I should only do one, yes?

--- Yep,1 of each - registry cleaners you have 3, so choose the one easiest for you. You just have to keep klicking yes darling. You are smarter than a metal box full cheap parts from Taiwan.

What does Wubi do? Well, okay, I went and looked. It sounds good really, yet to think of my doing it is terrifying. What is Ubutu?

--- Ubuntu is a variant of Linux - very user friendly - wubi will do everything for you - you just have to choose user-name and password. It will take 15 GB of your disk.

Downloading is an act of daring for me that sometimes brings its own complications...

--- You can do it darling ...

Defrag I know how to do. I used to scandisk but don't find it now.

--- One option above it ... same meny as defrag ...

I have heard wonderful things about Linux. It would not be an easy thing for me to learn a new program just like that. Despite all the fault I find with Microsoft, I am fairly used to it.

--- Linux interface is almost indentical as windows - there is not much to learn.

There must be a huge learning curve to learn a new program. I do not presently know how to take the time to learn something new of this proportion.

--- As always - it is up to you ...

You are so advanced, dear Serp. To you, all this is simple. To me, it's like I've been put into an advanced class and I'm kinda left behind and am afraid I'll never catch up.

--- We are just warming up ...

Just one more thing. The advice you give here -- is this good advice for everyone?

--- I try to do so ...always ...

Heavenletters carried me through the tight places when I could not carry myself

I bravely went ahead and

I bravely went ahead and downloaded the Eusing cleaning program you suggested. It was fairly quick. However -- you knew there would be an However, didn't you?!! -- it found something like 845 errors!!! Then when I clicked for the program to repair, it said there were zero to repair. So, which is true?

That is all the extra computer activity I can do in one day!

Please know how grateful I am for your help. Little by little, I'll get there.

God bless you.

Probably he did it already -

Probably he did it already - do it later once more to be sure - do not forget to defragment (registry) too - it should be a tool for that in the program - program it to do every time you shut down - cleaning- - just klick that option - - it will ask for reboot after derfrag of registry - Hitman pro (anti-spyware - first option above) will run several hours - take it in account ...

Only 845 ? you are good ...

Heavenletters carried me through the tight places when I could not carry myself

You were right! I did the

You were right! I did the clearing again. This time it showed only 8 errors. And the program fixed them in a flash. We did it!

What a wonderful thing to have our very own troubleshooter right here for us. Thank you for helping Heavenletters run smoothly.

With love and blessings,

Gloria

Did you defragmented

Did you defragmented registry and reboot - And clean up the desktop ?

And run the Hitman pro? (Before going to sleep ...)

Before you start Hitman pro choose --- accept all licences --- and automaticaly repair all threaths --- and start it .. it will take a long time - if you want you can choose the option --- shutdown the system after inspection.

Do you have a firewall installed ? (Norton, Simantec, Mccafee etc .. ) - if not immediataly install ! Come back for this here .

Heavenletters carried me through the tight places when I could not carry myself

I did defrag. I forgot to

I did defrag.

I forgot to reboot.

I believe I do have a firewall.

My desktop is pretty clean.

My nervous system can only deal with so much downloading a day!

Thank you so much for all the trouble you are going to.

P.S. I do have anti-spam. Should I uninstall what I have? Ad-Ware and Spy Bot, but I must confess I seldom use them.

Dear, No -you do not have to

Dear,

No -you do not have to de- install anything. Well, you have to run the full scan at least once a week - choose option that he does it automaticaly once a week and on the shutdown of the system - just klick on the right button. If you want you can install hitman pro as extra - but not nessesary.

Love,

Serp.

Heavenletters carried me through the tight places when I could not carry myself

Also, Anything that you

Also,

Anything that you have in tray running will slow down your system - it is just the question do you really need it running ... Hitman pro has multiple programs contained in itself but they run only when he main program hitman pro is executed - they do not remain in the tray. If you have a antivirus with firewall - the appart spybot may not be nessesary - you can occationally execute Hitman once a week when you go to sleep ...

If you do search -startup - in that folder are all programs that start when you comp starts. If you are SURE you do not need them running all the time - you can remove them - or send the print-screen to me to teel you the same.

Also - start only programs that you need at a moment - anything that is runnning and you not need it consume the resources and slow the performance. Also any program in the tray that you do not really need ... (right-klick on the icon in the down-right try and then exit)

I do not know how you are with money but if you constantly have problems with performance maybe is good idea to buy 2-3 GB of RAM extra (psihical memory of the comp). It will make your life a lot easier for a 200-300 $

Do I need WYLAN disabled?

Do I need WYLAN disabled? Wireless Network Connection not connected? On AC Power?

Windows Security Alerts -- I'm sure I don't need it. Let's see if I can turn it off by going to startup.

Thank you so much. This is a wonderful service you give!

A message from your sponsor ...

Would you like to have Ubuntu Linux installed (15 GB of disk-space) You will have a dual boot (meaning when the windows is starting - you can choose if you want to boot Ubuntu or widows - widows will boot automaticaly if you do not choose anything)

It is good to have it as a backup in case your widows crash - Linux is very reliable and it is a good salvation if you can not, for any reason, use widows at the moment, Ubuntu is also very user-friendly - almost indentical interface as widows, and has everything (and much more) what the widows has. It is also very stable, run as a train, and never crash.

You are a great encourager!

You are a great encourager! You certainly are helping me master computers. You know I have a long way to go before I can accept any award! I want to accept the award when I really have earned it. I do love the offer!

I have learned what many computer terms mean. What they are really about.

Registry, Scandisk, drivers, folders, operating systems, winzip.

I think you deserve an award for your valor and patience in taking me out of the recycle bin, so to speak!

Muchas gracias!
